Berry wax

Origin

Berry wax is a pure plant wax obtained from the fruit peel of the lacquer sumac (Rhus verniciflua). This is a deciduous tree that grows up to 20 meters high and is native to Korea, India, Japan and some Chinese provinces. After harvesting, the fruits, which average 6 by 6 centimeters in size, are first boiled in special cauldrons. The raw wax can then be skimmed off relatively easily before it is gently and carefully filtered.
