FAQ: Waxing & hair removal
What is waxing and what does it do?
Waxing removes hair together with the root. As a result, skin feels smooth for longer than after shaving. Because hair grows back in different growth phases, the result often becomes more even with regular treatments.
Why is waxing better than plucking?
Waxing can remove many fine hairs at once and evenly at the root. This makes the method particularly well suited to larger areas or where there are lots of fine hairs. Plucking with tweezers, on the other hand, is better suited to individual hairs and precise fine correction, for example on the eyebrows. For complete hair removal, plucking would take much longer and is often more uncomfortable too.
Why is waxing better than shaving?
Shaving only cuts hair off at the surface of the skin. Waxing, by contrast, removes it together with the root. As a result, skin usually stays smooth for much longer, and noticeable stubble doesn't come back after just a short time. With regular waxing, hair can grow back finer over time and growth may appear less dense. How noticeable this is varies from person to person. Permanent hair removal cannot be guaranteed.
How long should hair be before waxing?
For the most even result possible, hair should be about 4 to 5 mm long so the wax can grip it well. If possible, please don't shave for a few days before your appointment.
How do I prepare for my waxing appointment?
On the day of the treatment, your skin should be clean, dry and as free as possible of cream, oil or body lotion. A gentle exfoliation one to two days beforehand can help remove dead skin flakes. Right before the appointment, however, your skin should not be irritated any further.
What is eyebrow shaping?
The eyebrows are first shaped with wax to suit their natural shape and your face. Individual hairs and fine details are then refined with tweezers if needed.
What is included in “Full face” waxing?
It includes the forehead, cheeks, upper lip, chin/under-chin area and eyebrow shaping.
What is the difference between Bikini Line, American / Triangle, Landing Strip, European Style and Hollywood Cut?
With the Bikini Line, only hair that would be visible beyond your briefs or bikini is removed. With American / Triangle, a smaller triangle remains at the front. With the Landing Strip, a narrow strip of hair remains. With European Style, a larger natural area of hair remains at the front. With the Hollywood Cut, the front intimate area is waxed completely, including the labia.
Is the buttock strip automatically included in intimate waxing?
No. The buttock strip is not automatically included in the intimate options. It can be added to an intimate treatment for +€10 or booked on its own for €25.
What is the difference between “pubic area” and “complete” in intimate waxing for men?
With pubic area, only the hairy area of the pubic mound is waxed. With complete intimate, the entire front intimate area is waxed, including the testicles and adjacent areas. The buttock strip can be booked in addition to either option.
Is waxing painful?
How it feels is individual and depends on factors such as the area of the body, hair thickness and personal sensitivity. Especially during the first treatments, the pulling can feel stronger. Many clients find that regular waxing appointments become more comfortable over time.
How long does the result of waxing last?
That depends on your personal hair growth and the growth phase of the hair. As a rule, skin stays noticeably smoother for several weeks than after shaving.
What should I keep in mind after waxing?
Skin may be more sensitive or slightly reddened right after the treatment. For about 24 hours, avoid strong heat, sauna, sunbeds, intense sun, swimming pools and very sweaty exercise. Heavily perfumed or irritating skincare products should also not be used straight afterwards.
Can I come for intimate waxing during my period?
In principle, intimate waxing during your period is possible. However, I recommend planning your appointment outside your period if you can. During this time, the intimate area can be more sensitive and the treatment more uncomfortable. For hygiene reasons, an appointment during your period is also not ideal. If your period starts unexpectedly, please get in touch shortly before your appointment so we can decide together whether it should go ahead or be postponed.
What can I do about ingrown hairs?
Regular, gentle exfoliation and good moisturising care can help to avoid ingrown hairs. After waxing, wait to exfoliate until your skin has fully calmed down again.
Do I need to shave or trim my hair before waxing?
Please don't shave shortly before your appointment. If hair is very long, it can be trimmed before the treatment if needed. For a good waxing result, though, it should not be too short.
Is really all the hair removed in one appointment?
The hairs that can be removed are those that are long enough and visible above the surface of the skin at the time of the treatment. Because hair grows in different growth phases, individual new hairs may appear later.
When should waxing be avoided?
Areas with open wounds, acute skin irritation, inflammation or badly irritated or injured skin should not be waxed. If you're unsure, feel free to contact me before your appointment.
